Credit broker, not a lender · Finance subject to status

Initial Disclosure

This document sets out who we are, the service we provide, how we are paid, and how we are regulated. Please read it before deciding whether to use our service.

  1. Who we are

This website is operated by {{LEGAL_ENTITY}} of {{REGISTERED_ADDRESS}}. You can contact us on {{CONTACT_PHONE}} or at {{CONTACT_EMAIL}}.

Throughout this document, “we”, “us” and “our” mean {{LEGAL_ENTITY}}, trading as Trusted Car Finance.

  2. We are a credit broker, not a lender

Trusted Car Finance is a credit broker, not a lender. We do not lend money ourselves and we do not make the decision on your finance application.

Our role is to introduce you to a lender or another broker who may be able to provide the car finance you are looking for. The lender, not us, decides whether to offer you finance and on what terms. Any finance is subject to status, affordability checks and the lender’s own lending criteria.

  3. The service we provide

We help you compare car-finance options and, where you choose to proceed, we introduce you to a lender or finance provider from our panel.

{{PANEL_STATEMENT}} — for example, whether we work with a limited panel of lenders or search a wider range of the market. We do not provide independent financial advice and we do not recommend that any particular product is the most suitable for you; we give you information so you can make your own decision. If you need advice, you should speak to a suitably qualified adviser.

TODO(strategy): confirm exact panel / whole-of-market wording once the lender panel is agreed.

  4. How we are paid

We do not charge you a fee for our service. There is no cost to you for us introducing you to a lender.

We may receive a commission or other payment from the lender or finance provider if you take out finance following our introduction. {{COMMISSION_STATEMENT}} — this explains whether commission is received, whether the amount can vary, and whether it could affect the interest rate or other terms you are offered.

You can ask us for more information about any commission we may receive before you enter into a finance agreement. Further detail is set out on our commission disclosure page at /commission-disclosure/.

  5. How we are regulated

{{LEGAL_ENTITY}} is applying to become an Appointed Representative of {{PRINCIPAL_NAME}}, which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. Our appointment is pending and has not yet taken effect.

Once appointed, we will act as an Appointed Representative of {{PRINCIPAL_NAME}} for regulated credit-broking activities. Our permitted activities will be limited to those covered by that appointment. You will be able to check our status and reference number on the Financial Services Register at register.fca.org.uk using our firm reference number {{FCA_REF}}.

TODO(compliance): remove the “applying / pending” wording and confirm the final regulated-status statement only after the Appointed Representative appointment and principal sign-off.

  6. If something goes wrong

We want you to be happy with our service. If you are not, please tell us so we can put things right. Details of how to complain are on our complaints page at /complaints/.

If we cannot resolve your complaint to your satisfaction, you may be able to refer it to the Financial Ombudsman Service. We will tell you how to do this if it applies to your complaint.
